High in the limestone uplands of the Yorkshire Dales National Park lies the little hamlet of Chapel-le-Dale and it is here, nestling in the dale between the peaks of Ingleborough and Whernside, the traveller will find a warm welcome at Croft Gate Bed and Breakfast.
Originally a stone-built shippon and barn, the cottage has many quaint features such as old beams, a large stone fireplace (complete with wood burning stove) and stone window-sills.
The charming village of Ingleton is only 4 miles away and here you can explore the picturesque glens and waterfalls, visit White Scar Caves or stop off for an evening meal.
Travelling towards the market town of Hawes (13 miles), with its Wensleydale Cheese Shop and Creamery (open to the public), you will pass the famous Ribblehead Viaduct on the Settle to Carlisle railway. In 1871 a smallpox epidemic killed many of the navvies working on this incredible feat of engineering and a memorial dedicated to these men can be found in the graveyard of our hamlet’s Chapel of the Fells.
Further afield, places to visit range from the Lake District, Kendal, the Victorian town of Kirkby Lonsdale, Lancaster and even the sea at Morecambe.
